PROPERTY analyst Len van Niekerk will be joining Old Mutual Properties as head of listed property fund management, the company has said.
Van Niekerk, who has been rated in Financial Mail surveys as one of the top two analysts over the past three years, has been with Andisa Securities for five years.
Colin Young, head of asset management at Old Mutual Properties, said Van Niekerk would “be doing the fund management of Old Mutual listed property funds and he’ll be appointed as property sector head at Old Mutual Asset Management in due course”.
“I am very pleased and this is a good appointment for us. It strengthens our team significantly,” said Young.
Van Niekerk said he was “excited about the appointment”.
“I am looking forward to working with a highly regarded team of property professionals.”
Young said Van Niekerk’s appointment was in line with Old Mutual Properties’ “strategic focus on asset management and asset gathering”.
He said that the listed property fund management team reporting to him would also be strengthened by the appointment of Greg Cort from Old Mutual Asset Management, as an analyst.
Young said the team managed R6bn in listed property assets with the Old Mutual SA Quoted Property Fund accounting for R1,7bn.
