The Cape Town Central City's revitalisation success story will again be showcased this year at the annual SA Property Owners' Association (SAPOA) Conference, to be held at the Durban Convention Centre from 17 to 19 May.
The SAPOA Conference annually brings together property and development specialists from across the country to network, showcase and promote developments and revitalisation projects, and share knowledge about property trends and its impact on the economy and investment appeal of a region.
Cape Town Partnership's Chief Executive, Andrew Boraine, said that the Cape Town Central City benefited vastly over the years from exposure at this conference. "It has helped us to position the Cape Town Central City as one of the prime regeneration centres in the country. Intensive promotion of the Central City as a clean and safe area to live, do business, and spend recreational time is bearing fruit, and can be evidenced by the large number of completed developments, as well as developments nearing completion all over the inner city.
"We are confident that the impact of preparing for a major event such as the 2010 Soccer World Cup will further boost the process of revitalisation of our Central City", said Boraine.
"Projects such as the upgrade of the Cape Town Station as a multi-nodal public transit centre, and the provision of an Inner City Public Transport system, which are already in the pipeline, have become more urgent and more viable.
"The Central City's economy has been consolidated over the last five years, with the retention and attraction of traditional sectors such as finance and business support services.
"At the same time, the Central City economy is diversifying through investment in information and communication technologies, call centres, business process outsourcing, creative and cultural industries, and tourism services.
"The Partnership will continue to focus its efforts on attracting domestic and foreign investment into the Central City by networking with property owners, developers, brokers, investors and bankers, as well as statutory planning authorities.
Traditional small businesses and unique retail outlets, which form an essential part of the character of the Central City, are also strongly promoted by the Partnership", concluded Boraine.
