New lifestyle centre at Clearwater

A LIFESTYLE, decor and value centre, Clearwater Lifestyle Mall, is to be developed at the main entrance to the Clearwater Mall in Roodepoort, West Rand.

The 4000m² centre is to be developed in a joint venture by Atterbury Property and Retail Africa.

Once it is developed it will be held by Attfund, the property investment fund co-founded by Atterbury Holdings in 2002. Clearwater Mall is also held by Attfund.

Coenie Bezuidenhout, a director of Atterbury Property Developments, says the existing 65000m² Clearwater Mall, developed by Atterbury Property and opened in 2005, is “trading extremely well”.

Construction of Clearwater Lifestyle Centre is to start in September or October .

“We will be ready for occupation in May-June,” says Bezuidenhout.

The availability of land suitable for development, and strong demand from value and decor tenants for such a centre, also paved the way for the new centre.

“They are not accommodated in the mall. The centre is attractive to them because of the close proximity to the mall and high visibility of the site,” says Bezuidenhout.

He says they are expecting the new centre to be fully let when it opens because of the strong demand for space.

The centre is located near the intersection of two major arterial roads, Christiaan de Wet and Hendrik Potgieter.
