Background

South African Real Estate is fast coming up on the screens of mainstream international investors as a market with serious allure. Greater world liquidity and higher prices are expected to lure offshore asset-chasers to SA on an unprecedented scale.

Large investments and deals have already been made and more are in the offing.  We are seeing major consolidation of local funds to attract investors.
The sector is beginning to offer the liquidity and scale required.  These are massive trends and changes.

The SA economy and property sector is being re-rated by international agencies and our property markets are performing exceptionally well. 

We have good governance and systems in place. The 2010 Soccer World Cup will put SA squarely on centre stage.

But how far down the track are we and what must we do to compete with other emergent and established economies?  How accessible is our market to global investors?  What is the enabling role of government?  What are the key risks and challenges?

These are some of the issues the conference will explore to gain an understanding of how to do business in this globalizing environment: what it means for real estate going forward, who the players will be and which investment strategies will emerge.
