Historic winelands farm on auction
2008-06-10 · Auctions
The historic Klein Normandie Farm, an 85ha property in the beautiful and exclusive Franschhoek Valley, will be auctioned on Friday 13 June.
The farm is located just off the R45 between Paarl and Franschhoek, bordered by the world famous Boschendal and L'Ormarins wine estates. Klein Normandie has 28,33ha under vineyard, and a further 32ha of high quality soils have been identified for future vineyard plantings. Current plantings include Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinotage. Ample water is supplied by means of a 55% usage servitude on a huge dam.
Buildings include a farm house, two semi-detached farm cottages and a shed. The parent property has been approved for sub-division into a 14ha for Open Space with plans for a private nature reserve and proposals have also been submitted for the development of a boutique hotel and 5 additional dwellings. The remaining 70,85ha is zoned agricultural. The two portions will be offered separately and jointly.

Hein Hattingh of the Alliance Group comments, 'We have experienced a great deal of interest in this property due to the fact that we are presenting it as two separate plots, meaning that buyers have the choice of purchasing either one or both plots.
With the area between Boschendal and Franschoek predicted to become the "Monaco of Africa" this property presents a unique opportunity. Lydia van Rensburg of the Alliance Group remarks: 'This property, situated between the world famous Boschendal and L'Ormarins wine estates, offers numerous possibilities with exceptional capital appreciation in the future.'
The auction will take place on Friday, 13 June at 11am at the Simondium's Country Club. Please contact Albie Loubser (082 573 9902) or Willie van Rensburg ( 083 261 7641) for viewing.
