The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God' s new church is set to house 7 000 worshippers. In the bustle of the inner city of Johannesburg, the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG) is building a new church which will house 7 000 worshippers.
The R200m project on the corner of Plein and Bree Streets, on a site previously occupied by a parkade, is believed to be one of the largest of its kind in South Africa to date.
UCKG is a recently established ecumenical movement which emerged in Brazil and has since gone global.
The cathedral is due for completion in mid 2009 and Barrow Construction was awarded the contract to build the church.
