Investec had named Andrew Fitchie head of its UK research team and planned to hire six more people in coming months, the dual-listed bank said yesterday. Fitchie, who will be based in London, was the head of equities and research for large companies at Collins Stewart. Investec appointed Mike Jones as corporate finance director, running the resources team.
The bank also hired four sales traders from Evolution Securities. "These hires are part of our... strategy of taking advantage of the good people who are available," said David Currie, the co-head of investment banking and securities.
