SAPOA Programme To Boost Eastern Cape Commercial Property
2012-05-21 · Eastern Cape
NMMU Business School this week announced that it will be the education partner for the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA), the representative body and official voice of the commercial industry property in South Africa, to present a cutting-edge, custom-designed course, Introduction to Commercial Property Programme (ICPP) to presented on 4 June 2012 in Port Elizabeth and 18 June 2012 in East London.
"For the first time in years, SAPOA, in association with the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University Business School (NMMU), will be running an Introduction to Commercial Property Programme (ICPP)," says Martin Ferguson, SAPOA Human Resource Development Manager.
Ferguson stated that the programme is targeted at people who have no experience or formal knowledge of the commercial and industrial property industry, and that the programme is pitched at commercial property brokers, owners and employers that want to fast-track employees with an induction programme in commercial property, especially new employees.
In a statement circulated by Ferguson, he appealed to commercial and industrial property to support the initiative, and indicated that two other SAPOA programmes, the Essential Commercial Property Programme, (which is an entry level programme to property development and focuses on property investment, valuation, feasibilities, finance, town planning and development) and the Property Management Programme (a one year programme that runs from February to November and is targeted at participants who are employed within the property management field) are in the pipeline.
"While developing and enhancing the commercial property skills of your employees, employers can claim back the costs of this programme from the relevant SETA when you complete your Annual Training Report," he said.
"SAPOA wants to develop the skills and competencies in this region as a service to our industry and SAPOA think you will agree with us that skills development is far overdue. By promoting this programme to the government departments and municipalities, it can also improve their employees' knowledge of the commercial property industry, hence improving relationship and co-operation in our day to day dealings with them."
