Growthpoint's SmartLease aims to get commercial leases signed in a day
2026-09-27 · Company News
Growthpoint Properties is launching a digital leasing platform, SmartLease, in November 2026 — with the stated goal of taking a commercial lease from first enquiry to signature in a single day. The platform was unveiled at the Africa PropTech Forum 2026, held alongside the African Property Investment Summit in Cape Town.
What SmartLease changes
Leasing commercial space has traditionally been a chain of separate steps — enquiries, approvals, paperwork and back-and-forth between tenant, broker and landlord — that can take weeks to complete. Growthpoint says SmartLease replaces that fragmented sequence with one guided digital journey, from the first enquiry through to signing, cutting out duplication and delays for business clients, broker partners and its own teams.
It will apply across Growthpoint's retail, office, logistics and industrial portfolio, and the rollout comes with structured onboarding and support for its teams, clients and brokers.
What Growthpoint says
Lauren Turner, Growthpoint's head of corporate affairs, said the company is designing every interaction around how businesses expect to engage today: digitally, responsively and without unnecessary friction. Timothy Irvine, head of asset management for offices, made the case in simpler terms — once a business has decided on a space, it wants the deal done, and efficiency matters.
What it means for tenants and brokers
For anyone looking for space, the practical takeaway is speed. Faster leasing helps tenants who need to move quickly, and gives brokers a more predictable process to run their clients through. As with any new system, the real test will be how it performs on live deals once it launches in November.
