2006-10-03
Murray & Roberts' share of the work on the Gautrain Rapid Rail System project over the next 54 months will be approximately 4.5 billion rand, the company said.
The Bombela Concession Company, in which Murray & Roberts is a 25% shareholder (it is also a 45% shareholder in a joint venture that is being sub-contracted to complete the civil works), has signed a Concession Agreement with the Gauteng Provincial Government enabling construction to commence immediately on Gautrain and the grant of a twenty-year concession to operate and maintain the system.
Bombela has been contracted to construct and deliver Gautrain within a period of 54 months. The system linking Johannesburg International Airport to Sandton and Midrand has been contracted to be completed within a 45 month period.
