2006-11-14 · General Property News
The Highveld Mall in Emalahleni (previously Witbank) will open its doors in April next year. It will be home to the first Meltz Mega factory store in Mpumalanga.
The centre, some 40 000 m² large, is developed by a consortium of Flanagan & Gerard Property Development and Investment (50%) and Falcon Forest Trading, a black owned company (50%).
Highveld Mall is owned by listed property group Resilient, that owns an interest of 60%. Flanagan & Gerard owns 17%, Mogwele, a subsidiary of Falcon, owns 12,5%, and local investors own 10%.
The centre will boast about 120 shops, of which 80% are national retailers. In total 40 shops have been set aside for local retailers. The Witbank region saw tremendous growth over the past five years. This growth leads to a strong middle class with better buying power.
